 Down through the years I’ve been really lucky with my holiday trips. The vast majority of the time I’ve avoided travel delays, illness, pickpockets…..but this week’s blog covers two trips where things didn’t run so smoothly. Coincidentally they were both trips to Lanzarote in the Canary Islands…..though I hasten to add there was nothing wrong with the destination itself….just lots of mishaps getting to – and – fro.

 So, on a last minute whim in October 2009 we decided to head to the sun, and after a four-hour 15 minute flight (booked through Budget Travel) we arrived on mountainous, sandy and windswept Fuerteventura in the Canary Islands, Spain. This blog recounts how we got on.
 The Canary Islands are the ever popular holiday destination for countless Irish holiday-makers being only 4 ½ hours due south from Ireland by air. This blog post is about our visit in October 2007.
