The first 8/80 books that I have on my shelves So for my Bucket List, my aim is to read at least 80 books. My bookshelves groan under the weight of an eclectic mix of book types. These are some of the books I still hold onto including fiction (romance, thriller, crime) and non-fiction (biographies, history, poetry). I was always a voracious reader. From the age of 9 I devoured books without pictures…..borrowing them from my local Carrick public library. Mrs. Galvin, the librarian, knew me and my friend, Catherine, well. But I would read anything….magazines, Readers’ Digest, holiday brochures, even clothing catalogues. Say “Thank You” in 8 languages
In Ireland, some of the very first words you learn to say are “ta ta”. As a toddler, my parents would ask me “what’s the magic word?” whenever I was handed or given something. (Usually Marietta I can just see my close friends spluttering out their tea with laughter as they see this post. Me! Giving cooking advice! Hahaha. It’s well known that I’m not exactly a domestic goddess. I have a sign in my kitchen that reads:
